Useful
links for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems
- The Landsat Project is
a joint initiative of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to gather Earth resource
data using a series of satellites. Also see Landsat
7 .
- MODIS (or
Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) is a key instrument
aboard the Terra (EOS AM) and Aqua (EOS PM) satellites. Terra MODIS
and Aqua MODIS are viewing the entire Earth's surface every 1 to
2 days, acquiring data in 36 spectral bands, or groups of wavelengths.
These data will improve our understanding of global dynamics and
processes occurring on the land, in the oceans, and in the lower atmosphere.
- The purpose of the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS)
Project is to provide quantitative data on global ocean bio-optical
properties to the Earth science community.
- Spot Image
is a world leader in the supply of geographic information derived
from satellite imagery.
- GIS Data Deli managed
by Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, an internet-based spatial
data acquisition site that allows users to download raw computer-readable
data for use in their Geographic Information System (GIS), image
processing system, or traditional database environment.
- The GeoCommunity is a place
for the Geographic Information Systems (GIS), CAD, Mapping, and Location-Based
industry professionals. The GeoCommunity is a leading GIS online
portal and daily publications.
- USGS Geographic Data Download
- Great Lakes Forest Information Center for Landat
Images at discounted cost.
