My name is Annie Stadstad and I am a second year student at Winona State majoring in Nursing with minors in Women's and Gender Studies and Child Advocacy Studies. This was my second year going down to do hurricane relief with this class - last year as a student and this year as a student leader. It was very interesting to see the differences (or lack there of) that a year made for the city. From the day I heard about the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans I knew I wanted to go down to help out in any way possible. This class gave me the perfect opportunity. This summer I will be looking in to returning to New Orleans to volunteer with ACORN, the group we volunteered with this year.
