Individual family home clean up.

Ms. Gerry is a single mother who lives with her special needs son, Glen, in New Orleans East. Their house was flooded during the hurricane with over 3 feet of water. The resulting mold and mildew meant that the entire house had to be gutted. Jay Kohner, a volunteer carpenter from Winona , travel with the group and directed this project for us. We were able to take out all of the ruined furniture, clothes, and other contents of the house and garage; remove the drywall and insulation; take out the portruding nails in the studs; take up the tile floor in the kitchen and entryway; and disinfect the studs. In addition, we cleaned about 20 large bags of laudry (of items that were stored high enough in the closets to be salvaged). And after finishing all of that, the students still had enought energy to help the neighbors gut 2 more rooms!

Cleaning dishes in bleach and packing up for later.
All the drywall had to come down.
Used Trimac suits for taking out the insulation. (Ms. Gerry's FEMA trailor in the background.)
